Over the years, we have diligently been saving to buy a house (a significant undertaking in the Bay Area!). Our hard work paid off in July 2019 when we were able to purchase a starter home in East Palo Alto, CA. Our “new” 1950s home has a great foundation and we’ve made it into a comfortable home for our family. However, the original windows (read: single paned, no insulation), original electrical wiring (read: cannot keep up with 21st century technologies), bathroom, and kitchen need updating (among others, listed below!). In lieu of gifts, we kindly ask for your assistance with these costly expenses as we make this house into a more comfortable and energy efficient home.
In our wedding planning, we have found that there are several online services that offer to collect monetary gifts like these on a couple’s behalf. While they appear to be fancy and elegant, these services also charge fees. In order for our friends and family not to be burdened with these fees, we respectful ask that any monetary gifts for our home improvement plans be made via personal check or sent via Venmo to @Giuliana-Garcia or @Calista-Nabors.
For full transparency, we want to share our growing list of home improvements to highlight where your monetary gift will go:
Removal of 30 year old carpet and installation of new flooring
Replace 30 year old washer, dryer, furnace, and dishwasher
Repair/replace broken garage doors (currently non-functional)
Electrical re-wiring of entire house (some rooms had “improvements” made by the previous owner that are not up to code)
Insulation of home
Bathroom renovation
Kitchen renovation
We understand our wedding registry may be non-traditional, and we know our family and friends support us being non-traditional in many aspects of our life together!
