Our Story
WHO WE ARE
Have you ever tried to argue with…either of us? Could you also say both of us are loyal to a T? Do we demand respect? Are we fierce advocates for social justice? Do we both love good people and good food?
It may have taken a long time, but we finally found our perfect match!
THE BEGINNING
After scouring the internet, experiencing life, and spending years finding ourselves, Calista and Giuliana finally found what seemed like a great match on Bumble (thanks, Kira)! After a quick conversation online, we met at a local Bay Area sports bar. A Warriors’ playoff game (the new normal in 2016) was on, but (fortunately) the mechanical bull was down for the night. We sat across from one another at a shared table and got to know each other just a little bit. Calista was so excited that Giuliana was a real person (a legitimate concern in the Bay Area dating scene) that she told Giuliana she wanted 6 (!) kids. Giuliana was so enamored with Calista's glamazon physique that she allegedly didn't hear (i.e. ignored) how many kids Calista said she wanted. Calista thought Giuliana was intelligent, fun, and was thrilled when G proved she was willing to go on an adventure as they had to climb through the city parking lot at the end of the night to get to their cars. Giuliana was just as happy with meeting a 6-foot tall, stunning woman, thinking she now finally had a chance at having a future child be a WNBA star. Giuliana even scored our first kiss that same night!
After our first date, Calista thought about what a fun night she had and how beautiful Giuliana’s smile was. Calista knew that she wanted to see G again. The next day, Giuliana was surprised by Calista's stalking skills when flowers were delivered to her at work. You see, Giuliana hadn’t yet told Calista where she worked or even what her last name was on their first date! (True to being a good social worker, Calista has amazing skills finding people—kids, don't try her!) The very next day, we went out for a second date…and then a third… and that quickly turned into our Summer of Love.
THE summer of love that never ended
We spent our summer going on dates, strawberry picking in Pescadero, hiking, participating in San Francisco Pride celebrations, going to baseball games, hanging out with G’s quirky cat, Kitty Purry (RIP), and truly enjoying each others’ company. Calista first confessed her love of Giuliana in Dolores Park over Pride weekend; Giuliana…cautiously smiled back and said “Thanks?”. And the Summer of Love just kept going.
Several weeks later, before Giuliana left on a business trip to Seattle, she brought Calista flowers and a card that said “Let’s Take This Sh*t to the Next Level,” asking C to be her girlfriend. Calista said yes, and a few days later flew to meet G in the Emerald City. Giuliana further won Calista’s heart by letting her order room service at the hotel (but really, who orders fresh salmon and a Mexican coke for breakfast?!), with Jeff Bezos footing the bill. That same weekend in Seattle, Calista again told Giuliana she loved her over a magical dinner at The Pink Door... Giuliana smiled and told Calista she loved her too. We then spent a romantic weekend in a seaside cabin on Whidbey Island, falling deeper in love with the special, unique qualities that make our relationship so perfect. You see, Calista truly loves the woman behind that beautiful smile.
The official Summer of Love may have technically ended, but we continued to fall further in love, traveling the world, tasting all the wine, and helping each other elevate and grow.
The Double Proposal
After moving in with each other in 2017, our future together became quite certain. Fulfilling all stereotypes, we adopted a crazy cat (Harley Quinn), and eventually started talking about engagement rings. In the fall of 2018, Giuliana took C out on a surprise date to a local independent jeweler in San Francisco to discuss designing custom rings. From there, we each designed the perfect rings but had no clue when the other would propose. In December 2018, Giuliana planned a special weekend at The Fairmont in San Francisco, continuing our annual tradition of seeing The Nutcracker at the San Francisco Ballet. At the end of the performance, as we were taking photos in the lobby of War Memorial Opera House, Giuliana (quite nervously) proposed to Calista, who excitedly said “Yes!” A few weeks later, as we were house sitting for a good friend in Seattle over the holidays, Calista made G go on a day date to Bainbridge Island to spend their last day of 2018 together. Under any other circumstance, Giuliana would have jumped at the opportunity to spend a day exploring the PNW. However, she had come down with a horrible cold and wasn’t feeling 100%. Calista was so sweet, taking her out to get tea and wood fired pizza. On the ferry ride back to Seattle, Calista led G to a side of the boat that had a beautiful view of the city during sunset. Calista pulled Giuliana to a secluded section of the boat, and intimately asked her “As the sun sets on 2018 and we begin a new adventure in 2019, will you be my adventure partner for life? Will you be my future wife?” Despite having felt terrible all day, Giuliana couldn’t have felt happier in that moment and said “Yes!”
Independent Baes
Calista and Giuliana briefly became national celebrities, moved in together, adopted a small zoo, supported each other through heartbreak and loss, and also through new opportunities. Over the past four years, their love has grown as they experienced life together with hard times and good. C&G have unconditionally loved and supported each other, never looking back. Their love for one another is truly a perfect match. They are two fiercely independent women who perfectly match one another, all in all.
